Job Summary: The Audiovisual (A/V) Technician will operate and maintain all audiovisual (A/V) and information technology (IT) equipment at the Davis Conference Center (DCC) to ensure fully mission-capable status. The technician will support a variety of events, including high-profile conferences, meetings, and presentations, ensuring seamless operation and impeccable customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Setup and Operation:
- Setup and operate A/V equipment, including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for events, meetings, conferences, presentations, and news conferences.
- Ensure all A/V and IT equipment is tested and ready at least one hour before events start.
- Provide Secure Video Teleconferencing (SVTC) services.
- Configure and operate control systems, lighting, and sound systems.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) on 25% of equipment items per quarter.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to events.
- Maintain and update equipment inventory and provide technical data and system drawings for SVTC system accreditation.
Customer Service:
- Deliver flawless customer support and service for each event.
- Respond to Priority 1 events within 5 minutes, Priority 2 events within 10 minutes, and resolve issues accordingly.
- Assist customers with A/V equipment operation and provide training as needed.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with conference project officers to determine presentation requirements and support needs.
- Coordinate with IT and other support personnel to ensure all technical aspects of events are covered.
- Maintain effective communication with DCC staff and leadership regarding event support and security matters.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and submit equipment status reports, activity reports, and conference after-action reports.
- Maintain compliance with security requirements, including managing access to classified information and systems

Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of successful experience in professional/commercial A/V systems implementation, operations, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of event management practices and audiovisual technology.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency with Hirsch Velocity Software and managing Hirsch Security System.
- Security certification preferred.
- Physical fitness to lift 50-80 pounds, stand, walk, and navigate tight spaces.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Must be available to work during extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
