Trauma Registrar/Coder Position Summary
The Trauma Registrar/Coder ensures that complete and accurate data is collected and maintained for trauma services and all trauma patients that meet the inclusion criteria for Trauma Center Designation/Re-designation. The registrar/coder will evaluate the collected data to identify quality of care trends and determine appropriate coding for injuries, complications and procedures. This position is also responsible for meeting all customer requests for trauma related data to aid in reimbursement, QA/QI, education, research and prevention.
Trauma Registrar/Coder Position Requirements
Education
- Certified Trauma Registrar or the ability to complete within 3 years.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum of Associates Degree in health-related field or equivalent work experience of at least two years with a strong emphasis on data integrity and analysis is preferred.
Experience
- Two (2) years experience in some aspect of Trauma care
- Previous experience working with software programs such as databases, spreadsheets and graphic tools for producing reports.
- Working knowledge of installation and maintaining PC based software.
- Experience in data collection and abstracting medical information.
- Working knowledge of EMR.
- Must be able to work independently and exhibit organizational skills and flexibility.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Trauma Registrar/Coder Work Schedule
- Primarily Monday- Friday, may work weekends or evenings if needed
Trauma Registrar/Coder Benefits
At TidalHealth, team members working at least 36 hours per pay period based on 12-hour shift schedules or at least 37.5 hours for non 12-hour shift schedules and part-time team members working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.
