PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: The key role of an employee who works as a Container Customer Service Clerk is to interact with drivers processed through the Container Customer Service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process drivers of containers and chassis (check-in and check-out via intercom);
- Resolve any container related issues in the operating system (Jade) and in communication with the driver and operations;
- Communicate to the container yard supervision via radio communication;
- Respond to emails related to container availability or damages;
- Train other clerks as necessary (train the trainer);
- All other duties as assigned.
SCHEDULES:
A regular set schedule will be the norm. However, due to the nature of the port being subject to irregular vehicle and vessel arrivals (due to weather or unplanned events), there may be times when a work shift may start early or be extended to accommodate an event.
Requirements:- Education and/or Experience - high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Experience in international logistics and/or marine terminals preferred not required.
