What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Instructor position at Pennco Tech?
Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning in the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment. Provide career education through learner-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, life-long learning, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
Key Job Elements:
- Maintain a teaching assignment each term.
- Maintain a satisfactory working relationship with students.
- Plan course instruction based upon approved course syllabus/outline provided, to assure that course content and objectives are met. Distribute a copy of the course calendar to all students at the first class meeting.
- Cover all material in depth and scope as described in the syllabus.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles of the students.
- Design, administer and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus.
- Begin class at the designated time and provide a full period of instruction.
- Actively work to maintain retention in all terms taught, by maintaining accurate attendance records daily, working with the Director of Student Services to call all students who are absent and recording absentee information in roster after each class meeting and communicating attendance concerns to the Director of Education and the Director of Student Services.
- Assure that classroom and laboratory is left in a clean and orderly condition at the end of each class day.
- Enforce administrative campus policies.
- Offer suggestions and recommendations regarding revisions to the curriculum to the Director of Education.
- Be available to advise students, tutor and provide other assistance as needed.
- Attend all monthly faculty meetings.
- Ensure that once a year professional development is attended with guidance from the Director of Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
Position Requirements:
- Demonstrate a command of theory and practice in the course being taught.
- Have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the course(s) being taught
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Genuine interest in helping students.
- Ability to act effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work 3 evenings per week
