What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Analyst position at Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund?
This position reports to the Collections Supervisor and is responsible for providing assistance with the Collections function within the Fund, including but not limited to, collection of refunds and overpayments.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate will possess the ability to:
- Research and collect amounts due to the Fund as a result of unpaid premiums, claims utilization, retro-termination of benefits, and worker’s compensation.
- Generate and mail collection letters at established intervals. Perform regular follow up until resolution is achieved.
- Contact members or providers, either by telephone or in writing, concerning collection issues or to obtain information necessary for the completion of adjustment or refund requests.
- Answer incoming phone calls regarding collection questions.
- Take credit card payments over the phone for both collection balances due and open invoices produced by Accounts Receivable.
- Strictly adhere to all HIPAA and Fund Privacy and Security policies and procedures and perform member verifications in accordance with them.
- Maintain and update computer and hard copy files for collection accounts.
- Research and resolve disputed and/or questionable collection issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by PEBTF management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One or two years of collection experience.

No travel is required.
These are the physical requirements for this position:
- Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time working with a computer & monitor and headset while communicating with members and business partners.
- Occasional walking for short distances within the facility.
- Adequate vision in order to read the computer screen and paper documentation.
- Adequate hearing in order to perform customer service activities via the telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
These skills, knowledge and experience are preferred:
1. Knowledge of medical and supplemental benefits and medical terminology.
2. Knowledge of both manual and automated aspects of computer system, as well as familiarity with functions performed in other departments of the Fund.
3. Experience in customer service.
