Job Summary:
As a Blaster you responsible for preparing metal surfaces by using abrasive blasting techniques to remove rust, scale, paint, and other contaminants. This process ensures proper adhesion for coatings and enhances the durability of transformer components. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Essential Functions:
· Shotblast steel to prepare for painting
· Prepare transformer parts for blasting
· Check completed work for flaws
· Record readings from the Dwyer Manometer daily
· Empty outside hoppers as needed
· Check the basement of the blast for leaks and clear debris
· Spot for crane moves
· Operate forklift and/or spot for forklift driver
· Keep work area safe, neat, and clean

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this job include, but are not limited to, standing, walking, sitting, occasionally lifting up to 60 pounds, required to walk, sit, use hands, fingers, and arms, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must also be able to see in close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Job requires a moderate level of physical effort.
Work Environment: Workers are exposed to an environment without temperature control for heat or cold.
Safety Requirements: Safety requirements for a Blaster include steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, a welding helmet, hearing protection, respiratory protection, FR-rated clothing, a face shield, and a harness.
