Wind Tunnel Test Engineer - NASCAR

Job Description                

Working with the aero group, the candidate handles all aspects of full scale wind tunnel testing. This testing is the primary resource for defining the body specification. Primary responsibilities include:

• Generating run lists for wind tunnel testing
• Coordinate with R & D Fabrication for test preparation
  1. Review run lists with fabricators prior to testing, and explain concept intent
  2. Provide approval for prototypes (ensure test items meet intent)
  3. Oversee car setup
• Conduct full scale wind tunnel tests
  1. Oversee run list execution
  2. Review results, and adapt run plan as needed
  3. Provide results summary upon test completion
• Provide post-test report giving details to the summary

Secondary responsibilities include:

• Define wind tunnel testing programs and practices (methods development)
• Documentation of body specification intent, and construction techniques
• Correlation studies across wind tunnels, and CFD
• Identifying and exploiting areas of potential performance gains
