Job Summary:
To ensure an organized, accurate and efficiently run Front End department by maintaining the overall flow of operations, accurate cash handling, front end security, and department cleanliness. To perform in a supervisory role within the department in partnership and in the absence of the department manager. To provide ongoing leadership to the department staff through example and training while implementing judgement and acting as situations require with the goal of providing the highest level of service to the PFC shopper. To provide comprehensive management services throughout the PFC operation.
Position Responsibilities:
- To ensure excellent customer service in the front end by providing strong leadership, training, coaching and support to all front end staff on a daily basis.
- To manage the daily operations of the front end including break schedules and schedule adjustments, traffic flow, delegation of tasks and cash flow (change order and deposits).
- To be able to work all shifts including opening, closing and mid shifts.
- To communicate with the front end manager about all aspects of front end systems and climate in an effort to update and improve systems as needed.
- To address performance problems of front end staff when necessary in a way that is immediate, respectful and consistent including documented verbal and written warnings.
- To be sure the front end is fully stocked with all supplies (bags, forms etc.) to effectively execute daily operations.
- To communicate effectively and respectfully with all store management and staff to create a cohesive store team for staff and shoppers.
- To assist the front end manager with the upkeep, pricing, checking in and ordering of all sub depts. as assigned including books/cards, housewares and floral.
- To have a working knowledge of all front end equipment and systems with the ability to correct errors and troubleshoot potential problems.
- To assist the front end manager in maintaining the integrity of pricing systems in the front end by checking prices and communicating with IT and other dept. managers as necessary.
- To maintain the cleanliness of the front end and front end equipment.
- To create a sense of community and information at the service desk by being informed of classes and events at the Co-op or sponsored by the Co-op.
- To be aware of store layout and staff to be able to assist customers in finding products.
- To promote and sell memberships to the Co-op.
- To serve as MOD.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Manager.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation, including the ability to safely lift 15 to 25 lbs., stand/walk for the duration of their scheduled shift, engage in the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
