Roles & Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, lead, and mentor a team of facility technicians to ensure they perform their primary job responsibilities.
- Follow opening and closing procedures as detailed in the department's operating plan.
- Support the Facilities Manager in maintaining all rides within the theme park, including repairs and tests of all electromechanical equipment in rides, animation, attractions, and buildings.
- Perform preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure safety for both public and staff members and minimize downtime.
- Support Facilities Manager to ensure that work requests are completed on time.
- Perform spot inspections of the facility, particularly in the customer-facing and common areas, and inspect facilities informally for carpet stains, marks on walls that need touch-up, damaged or stained ceiling tiles, bent or broken window blinds, etc.
- Working knowledge of typical landscape, trees, plants, and ground cover; proper horticultural practices and procedures; common irrigation materials and methods.
- Manage and create teamwork schedules and time off to ensure proper coverage and workloads.
- Familiar with Merlin policies and procedures related to the position and job description.
- Work with the Facilities Manager to prepare specifications and bid packages and conduct the bid process.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies and materials, properly sourcing, and placing orders for routine and emergency items.
- Keep tools, machines, and all other company equipment in clean and proper working order.
- Attentive to the safety of self, fellow employees, and the public.
- Ensure proper PPE is always used as applicable, utilizing techniques and tools necessary to perform safely while performing their work.
- Assist the Facilities Manager in tracking expenses, budget forecasts, and vendor management. Be aware of all cost issues and tightly control external contractor payments, sourcing alternative suppliers to ensure value-for-money service and work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
About you:
- High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required.
- A minimum of three to five years of facilities and building maintenance experience and/or related trade experience, such as ride maintenance, general technical knowledge, facilities maintenance, or AV.
- Experience leading a team of facilities personnel, effectively developing and training personnel under his/her supervision, emphasizing teamwork.
- Ability to multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to maintain a friendly, polite, service-oriented demeanor.
- Ability to work using your initiative, display sound decision-making skills, and thrive in a team environment.
Other Job Requirements:
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record and be willing to utilize one's vehicle for business purposes.
- Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
Physical Demands:
- Work in hard-to-access areas such as uneven terrain and confined spaces.
- Requires safety goggles, gloves, ear plugs, respiratory devices, and all other PPE when appropriate.
- Frequent lifting of moderate to heavy loads (25 – 70 lbs). Required to lift and move loads with uneven weight distribution.
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk around the theme park.
- Hear with surrounding distracting noises. Noise level to possibly exceed 85 decibels.
Work Environment:
- Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces may include dirty and dusty environments.
- Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, with extreme hot or cold conditions.

They must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities and not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained.
