What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Simulation Technician position at Performance Point?

The Building Simulation Technician (BST) is responsible for takeoffs from electronic building plans for single family and multifamily homes under residential and commercial permitting. The BST will input takeoff data and on-site inspection data into energy modeling software, mechanical design software, job management and spreadsheet softwares. Takeoff data will include all building envelope components, HVAC and water heating equipment, and lighting and appliances. The BST will also generate documents from the modeling and design software, in addition to energy certificates and building reports.

  • Read architectural plans and create 3D models.
  • Input data into energy rating software.
  • Work independently and manage workload while meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Proficient in any 3D rendering software, preferably Sketch-up.
  • Knowledge & understanding of construction drawings, submittals, and specifications.
  • Visualize a concept from 2D to 3D and vice versa.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at a time to adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Work Suite.

Work environment:

This position involves working extended periods of sitting and computer use. This is a hybrid role that will require 2-3 days in the office.


Additional requirements:

  • AAS Degree in drafting/design or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of building systems and construction terminology (preferred).
  • Understanding of energy-efficient building envelopes (preferred).
  • Experience as certified rating field inspector (HERS, RFI, NGBS, Energy Star) a plus
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam a plus.

Salary : $41,300 - $52,300
