Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician
International chemical manufacturer located in Toledo, Ohio seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. Benefit eligibility after 30 days of employment. 100% company paid premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance.
Job Summary:
- Accountable for electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs of facilities, equipment, buildings, grounds and other related functions within personal capabilities and deemed necessary for continuous operations of the Toledo production plants.
- Full-time hourly, non-exempt, 7a-3p Monday through Friday onsite presence with some evening, weekend, and holiday work based on production activities (startup, shutdown, turnaround, etc.). Participate in weekly on-call rotation with other E&I personnel.
Work Assignments:
- Assist in scope, design, and implementation of new electrical and instrumentation systems
- Create new and modify existing work instructions when necessary
- Ensure all jobs are performed in accordance to recommended maintenance and repair instructions and best practices
- Perform assignments with minimal supervision
- Participate in the identification and correction of safety, security, and environmental issues within the scope of maintenance activities
- Follow instruction, quality improvement, and reporting procedures
- Participate in the troubleshooting, acquisition of resources, tools, equipment, parts, and correction of electrical related problem areas
- Assist in design, application, and installation of new equipment, processes, and systems
- Assist in the purchase and stocking of spare parts to accommodate the repair and maintenance needs of all areas
- Maintain equipment, tools, shop, storage, and work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion
- Ensure all jobs are performed in a safe and efficient manner
- Report discrepancies in work procedures
- Ensure documentation, reporting, and filing functions are completed for all work performed
- Ensure work assignments are performed in conformance to quality and environmental health/safety (EHS) standards and procedures
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree in electrical engineering, electronics, control & instrumentation, or trade school diploma in a related field preferred
Required Experience:
- Three years’ of applicable experience in an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of NEC federal, state, and local requirements for repair, service, and installation of industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical publications, manuals, and schematics as well as apply their use to maintain and repair equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs)
- Knowledge of SAE and Metric measurement standards
- Excellent organizational, reporting, and personnel skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude and use of common hand tools
- Basic knowledge of computers and business software including, but not limited to, SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to reference European electrical and instrumentation standards for translation to U.S. standards
- Emerson DeltaV hardware and troubleshooting
- PLC hardware and troubleshooting
- Motor circuits and related troubleshooting
- Process instrumentation and troubleshooting
- Automated valve, analog and discrete, operation and troubleshooting
- Automated bag filling machine and conveyor system operation and troubleshooting
- Load cell/weigh scale setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Electrical conduit and cable tray routing design and installation
- Electrical wire installation (cable pulling)
- Intrinsically safe electrical installation practices
- Explosion-proof (Ex rated) electrical installation practices
Work Environment:
- Routinely exposed to plant environment indoors/outdoors including noise, dust, dirt, vibrations, and climate/weather changes
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to use all channels of communication to address concerns, solve problems and address conflict
- Maintained positions- stand/sit/move/kneel/bend/climb stairs, ladders, and machinery/reach with arms and hands for extended periods of time
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- May be required to access, navigate, and operate in close quarters, small rooms, narrow aisles, and passageways
- Ability to work at heights
- Must be able to access all areas on site
- Comply and pass site regulations for PPE and clearances (i.e.- Health physical, respirator fit test, fire resistant (FR) clothing, etc.)
