What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supply Chain Inventory Analyst position at Pet Supplies Plus?
Overview
The Supply Chain Inventory Analyst is responsible for utilizing an automated replenishment system and other tools to effectively order, flow and allocate inventory from suppliers into the Pet Supplies Plus supply chain (Distribution Centers and stores). This will include all forecasting activities, import demand planning, creating and maintaining forecast models, and incorporating business intelligence through regular interactions and collaboration with Merchants, Inside Customer Service Representatives, Store Operations and Finance.
Responsibilities/Qualifications
The Supply Chain Analyst key responsibilities include:
Utilizing replenishment system to generate statistical forecasts:
- Managing daily inventory levels across multiple product categories (branded and private label), multiple distribution centers and Brands to ensure product availability (warehouse to store service level) at best net cost for turn, seasonal and promotion, company established turnover and working capital targets. This also includes timely new item fulfillment and end of life inventory run down on both everyday items and “in & out” products (e.g. shippers/pallet mods/seasonal products).
- Gathering, analyzing and validating data.
- Executing statistical modeling algorithms within PSP software.
- Reviewing resulting statistical forecast recommendation.
- Applying error analysis techniques to improve forecast.
- Summarizing/aggregating statistical forecasts.
- Monitoring trends in forecast error.
- Identifying relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence.
- Utilizing data from multiple sources (Store POS, Distribution, Supplier and Merchant forecasts templates) to support Sales and Operations planning decisions.
- Delivering company results for inventory turnover, supplier and distribution fill rates, and Store In-stock objectives.
Responsibility for supplier management and purchase order administration:
- Solid understanding of supply chain networks.
- Releasing purchase orders for both stores and distribution centers based on forecasted requirements and PSP standards.
- Overseeing and managing the terms, conditions, pricing, and performance to standards.
- Managing supplier performance by driving cost, lead times, fill rates and other key indices positive.
- Analyzing vendor delivery on-time and fill rate performance opportunities. Improving performance by working with the vendor, category, and Logistics. Recommending strategies to internal Category and Logistics teams for holding vendor accountable for failure to meet expectations.
- Staying informed on commodity or other supplier issues that impact category sales. Anticipating and acting on supplier issues, seasonal changes, natural disasters, crop conditions, and manufacturing issues ensuring efficient order quantities.
- Providing timely communication to necessary parties related to inventory transactions, resolving issues, short-term out of stocks, and responding to questions via phone, email, and online applications.
Overseeing the planning and execution of article-site inventory at stores and distribution centers for all products:
- Working with Merchandising and Planning teams to support ads, events and seasonal calendar builds.
- Serving as 'escalation point' contact for store operations inventory issues.
- Communicating exceptions and recommendations with respect to inventory and trends to Inventory management, Merchandising, Store Ops and Logistics staff.
- Working with merchandising group to develop a plan to address overstocks and left-over sale excess inventory.
- Utilizing exception-based reporting and analysis to monitor Inventory performance.
PAWsome Supply Chain Analyst candidates will have:
- A bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a business administration or supply chain management focus.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience using demand planning software (Manhattan I/O preferred).
- The ability to successfully complete internal Manhattan IO certification and training program within first 120 days.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Ability to apply critical thinking when solving problems and making decisions.
- Ability to identify problems and propose solutions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in working with cross-functional partners.
- Excellent follow-up skills with attention to detail/accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment while managing multiple tasks
- APICS or other forecasting certification preferred.
