Description

Position Objective: 

To support veterinary staff members and to provide the highest quality of care possible to veterinary patients in a humane and professional manner 


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Promote the humane care and treatment of animals

• Assist with admitting patients to the mobile clinics on a daily basis 

• Work within established policies and procedures under the veterinarian's direction to assist with the following duties:

     o Restraining clinic patients during surgical preparation

     o Administrating pre-anesthetic and anesthetic drugs

     o Performing surgical and post-surgical monitoring of patients through discharge

• Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance

• Assist in the maintenance of all program files and records 

• Deliver, set up, and return the mobile clinic each day in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with established policies

• Participate in special events

• Comply with applicable state and federal laws established by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• Two years of veterinary clinic experience

• Demonstrated ability to assess the health and well-being of patients

• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated effective organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

• Proven ability to deal professionally with a variety of people 

• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times 

• Willingness and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule 

• Ability to lift patients, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

• Ability to stand, stoop, walk, and bend for many hours during the day

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record

• This position requires proof of the COVID-19 full vaccination and booster

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
