SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of certificated staff, bilingual instructional assistants provide instruction to and supervision of Transitional Kindergarten students. Data gathering and student assessment are also required duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned. Primary responsibilities are working in classroom settings under the direction and supervision of a credentialed teacher to provide instructional assistance to English learners. May assist in registration and scheduling of students; receives and provides resource expertise in English and, where needed, In native language for communication with students and classroom teacher; translates, when necessary, course content, and in other ways, reinforces classroom curriculum; under administrative and/or certificated supervision, submits data for required reports; acts as liaison between teacher, student, school and parent, including home visits when requested; at the secondary level, maintains contact with all teachers dealing with LEP students; assists with orientation of new bilingual instructional assistants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must have minimum of a high school education or it's equivalency. Must meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which is at least an AA degree, or 48 college semester units, or pass a rigorous competency test. Some experience working with ELL students and/or parents desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be proficient in both English and the specific second language(s} on which the position is based.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.77 - $25.21 per hour
