World Language Teacher (.8 FTE - 3 Days a Week)
General John Nixon Elementary Schools is seeking a qualified Spanish Teacher to work with grades 1-5 in developing competencies, knowledge and skills comprehending, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Teach skills and knowledge in the instruction of Spanish to elementary school students through appropriate learning activities;
• Develop lesson plans including supplementary materials and participate in curriculum and other developmental programs;
• Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
• Develop student understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where Spanish is spoken;
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needs to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment;
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on students’ progress;
• Collaborate alongside classroom teachers to connect student learning through Spanish, where appropriate;
• Fosters student interest in and understanding of the Spanish language;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Classification: SEA Unit Position
Schedule: Work 183 days/year - prorated .6 FTE - 3 Days a week
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
