Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our team. The Art Teacher will be responsible for fostering students' interest in artistic expression, developing their skills in visual arts, and nurturing their talents in the field of Art. This position reports directly to the Principal or designated supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Teach various art forms such as crafts, drawing, painting, design, art history, and three-dimensional art to students following the approved curriculum.
- Instruct students on citizenship and core subjects as per state regulations.
- Cultivate students' aesthetic concepts, appreciation for art, and ability to make qualitative judgments.
- Demonstrate art techniques through activities like drawing, painting, and modeling using appropriate instructional aids.
- Develop lesson plans and manage class time effectively to deliver a well-rounded art education.
- Provide individualized instruction to accommodate diverse student needs and abilities.
- Maintain a conducive studio environment by setting behavior standards and ensuring proper use of tools and materials.
- Evaluate student progress, prepare progress reports, and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage art supplies inventory, requisition materials, and maintain accurate records.
- Organize art displays and exhibitions showcasing students' work for the school and community.
- Stay updated on best practices in art education through professional development activities.
- Keep records of student attendance and report absences promptly.
- Participate in curriculum development initiatives and engage in school-related meetings and committees as required.
Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree with a major or minor in Art.
- Virginia teaching license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience working in a private school or Montessori environment is a plus.
- Strong mentoring skills to guide students in their artistic journey.
- Proficiency in proofreading for accuracy in art-related content.
- Classroom management expertise with a focus on early intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of curriculum development tailored to childhood development stages.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools to enhance art education.
This full-time position offers competitive pay within the range of $54,531.00 - $83,975.00 per year along with benefits including 401(k), health insurance, professional development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and more.
