VP of IT

Please Note: This is a hybrid position. Travel to Portland, MI is required at least two times a week.

Summary

To assist the credit union in achieving its mission statement, “PFCU WILL DELIVER FINANCIAL WELL-BEING WITH VALUE, CONVENIENCE AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE”. The VP of IT is responsible to organize, plan and direct all daily IT functions including IT administration, security and internal network and phone systems (LAN) functions. Establishes, implements, and administers information systems policies, ensures security control procedures and processes are enforced in accordance with the security guidelines set by the NCUA and other regulatory bodies. Guide all technology decisions as it related to hardware, software and services needed to contribute to future technological innovations and the development and implementation of PFCU’s objectives. Continually monitors technology, keeping in mind deadlines and industry best practice. Support, model & adhere to PFCU’s Service Standards as outlined in My MARC.

Essential Functions, Duties, & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the IT strategy in alignment with the credit union's goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the IT team, ensuring effective and efficient operations.
  • Support the development of technology to align with corporate objectives and strategic goals.

IT Operations Management:

  • Oversee the administration of PFCU owned and operated technical resources.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of the credit union's IT systems.
  • Ensure that the IT infrastructure is secure, redundant, resilient, and that all local servers are backed up according to established procedures.

Cybersecurity and Risk Management:

  • Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect the credit union's data and systems.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure all critical security vulnerabilities are managed with high urgency and remediated within agreed time frames.
  • Ensure Event Response plan is amended to reflect post fact lessons learned items.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the credit union's requirements.
  • Serve in a project management role to organize new technology implementations or service additions.

Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Assess the security practices of third-party vendors and ensure they comply with the credit union's security standards.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure financial accountability within the IT department.

Team Development and Mentorship:

  • Mentor and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
  • Meet with direct reports on a monthly basis to provide customized coaching and mentorship in the area of performance. Set goals and assist employees with developing plans for continual growth and success within their position. Document coaching and other performance related conversations in PFCU’s performance management software.
  • Monitor employees' performance, conduct timely performance appraisals, and provide encouragement and recognition for outstanding performance.

Audit and Efficiency:

  • Audit technology platforms to ensure high efficiency and optimal end-user experience.
  • Ensure proper short and long-term IT goals are organized and executed, keeping all divisions informed of developments related to operations and staff training.
  • Assist with credit union audits and exams for the IT department.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Develop standards, internal processes, and procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure all IT systems are properly patched and secured.
  • Ensure all application software is properly licensed and in compliance with end-user license agreements.
  • Ensure service request SLAs are following established expectations.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work in harmony with all divisions of the credit union.
  • Establish standard operations procedures and workflows, ensuring documentation is kept current.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on IT initiatives, performance, and challenges.

Innovation and Technology Adoption:

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and technology adoption to enhance the credit union's operations and member experience.

Professional Development:

  • Attend and participate in educational meetings and seminars as requested by the CTO, Executive VP, or CEO; including annual strategic planning sessions.

Asset Management:

  • Maintain up-to-date asset control with 99.95% or higher accuracy.
  • Ensure all assets are patched to current levels, including OS and application (server & workstation).
  • Establish standard and secure asset deployment and version control processes, reporting as applicable.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans, perform testing, and report results to executive management.
  • Ensure the IT department is prepared to respond to and recover from disruptions, minimizing downtime and data loss.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all area activities are conducted safely.
  • Assist with credit union audits and exams for the IT department.

Special Projects:

  • Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned.

Regulatory Compliance

Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements which would include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Red Flag and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, and other compliance related policies.

Financial transactions are confidential and private. With account access, employees are to handle member information responsibly and confidentially.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business or similar field is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of formal degree.

Preferred Certifications

A , Network , Security , CCNA, Microsoft Server

Work Experience

5 years of Information Technology management experience

3 years of experience in business management and planning

3 years Microsoft Office Suite experience

3 years of experience with MS Outlook/MS Exchange or similar email systems.

3 years’ experience of managing multiple concurrent projects

3 years of personnel management

Knowledge of industry product and service offerings

Knowledge of business analysis processes and procedures

Knowledge of financial institution processing systems, Symitar preferred

Knowledge of project management processes

Thorough understanding of member service practices

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or

government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively

present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, members, and the general

public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have

the capability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
