The Digital Workplace Team, part of the Infrastructure & Cloud Services organization, helps enable joy at work through the delivery of devices, collaboration platforms, and support services designed to empower our coworker's productivity through reliability, quality, and speed of response.

Position Summary

The Digital Workplace organization is seeking a Principal Technology Architect to define and drive the future state architecture for the Coworker User Technology domain. This role will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for Digital Workplace that aligns with business requirements and overall PG&E goals.

 

In addition to having a “big picture” mindset, the Technology Architect is responsible for turning the architecture vision for the Digital Workplace domain into reality through understanding of business processes, application portfolios and the underlying IT infrastructure to suggest technology solutions that enable business maturity and help prioritize the right investments.

 

The Principal Technology Architect will be the primary liaison between Digital Workplace and the Technology Capability Architecture team, various Functional Area departments, stakeholders, and business units. This role requires a high degree of independence, ownership and responsibility to influence the implementation of technologies that will improve the Coworker digital productivity experience.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office(OGO) based on business needs.

 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:     $140,000

Bay Area Maximum:    $238,000

-Or-

California Minimum:     $133,000

California Maximum:    $226,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Establish and drive Digital Workplace technology strategies and roadmaps that align with Enterprise strategy and enables a multiyear technology portfolio that supports current and future business and technology capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain architectural artifacts including current/target architectures, short and long-term implementation roadmaps, architecture patterns, reference architectures, standards, and frameworks in partnership with Digital Workplace technology stakeholders.
  • Introduce and manage change to existing Digital Workplace technologies from concept and business case development and strategies.
  • Address complex problems spanning all Digital Workplace technologies provided for coworker productivity, infrastructure reliability and security.
  • Understand business problems and proactively identify technology solutions through collaboration with peer architects, subject matter experts and/or vendors to develop roadmaps for internal implementation.
  • Active participation in the planning and oversight management of the Digital Workplace Value Stream and portfolio budget to ensure prioritization and alignment with short-term and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Support Value Stream program and project delivery, review/provide solution designs and provide technology guidance and leadership to clients/stakeholders.
  • Actively partners with Digital Workplace Enterprise Architect and IT Solutions Engineer to deploy plans from conceptual architecture through solutioning and implementation.
  • Regularly collaborate with Digital Workplace teams to understand current technology and challenges in order to solution future state target direction.
  • Understand full domain technology stack, architecture and consumption/usage to provide expert level consulting for IT and other Functional Areas.
  • Coordinate plans/roadmaps across Digital Workplace stack of technologies and support teams to manage conflicts, redundancies and interdependencies.
  • Provides technology direction and vision for Digital Workplace organization and provides coaching and mentoring to non-architect technical team members.
  • Own, manage and maintain multiyear Microsoft contracts within company and associated products, services and stakeholders.
  • Stay current with developments and technology in the User Technology, Mobile, Cloud and other segments of the industry.
  • Create and maintain Technology Standards and Governance compliance.
  • Produce documentation which communicates complex technical ideas to a technical and non-technical audience to support the design/implementation of enterprise solutions. 
  • Communicate complex technologies, ideas and strategies effectively with Senior Leadership Team inside and outside of Functional Area.  

 

Qualifications  

 

Minimum:  

   

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience.   
  • Experience in Information Technology architecture, 10 years. 

 

Desired:  

   

  • Master’s degree in business administration/engineering or equivalent experience.  
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the Microsoft 365 platform (Office, Teams, Stream, Intune, Co-pilot, Loop, SharePoint, Exchange, Azure Authentication, Intune).
  • Experience planning and strategizing implementation of technologies for the Digital Workplace domain including office productivity tools, collaboration tools, conferencing, workplace audio visual tools, end user devices, device management, support desk, client operating systems, virtual desktop, desk and room booking solutions, web browsers, and printing & imaging devices.
  • Ability to apply multi-disciplinary approach to develop best-of-breed portfolio solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of common applications and security protocols. 
  • Ability to understand pain points, orchestrate and map the customer journey.
  • Experience with product release management lifecycle. 
  • Maintains vendor relationships with strong understanding of product licensing.
  • Partner with Tier-1 and Tier-3 teams to help develop curated content that will aid in resolving issues and support the digital adoption of technology.
  • Competency in planning and prioritizing work at Value Stream portfolio level.
  • Translates functional goals into programs/projects with significant business impact.
  • Digital Workplace or User Technology Portfolio planning experience from a to 5 - 10-year horizon.
  • Knows how to balance the long-term vision with short term mandates.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Agile principles, values, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques. 
  • Ability to proactively innovate and adopt new technologies and solutions while working with various subject matter experts and leaders.  
  • Ability to solve large, complex problems and utilize automation to eliminate manual waste/processes.
  • Has strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Has a strong sense of self-motivation, ownership and accountability.
  • Has tenacity to drive results and overcome impediments.
  • Has great insights and judgment skills, courage to share unpopular viewpoints and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Is comfortable juggling multiple competing priorities of different complexities.
  • Able to manage expectations while striving for overall IT success.
  • Has strong documentation skills and manages administrative duties well.
  • Develop and maintain relationship and coordination with Business, Information and Technology Architects.
  • Relevant utility industry experience.
