RESPONSIBILITIES

The Special Education Teacher’s Assistant provides instructional support to ensure students make meaningful progress toward reaching their full potential as learners. The Special Education Teacher’s Assistant continually helps to observe and inform the evaluation of students at a group and individual level. The Special Education Teacher’s Assistant works closely with special education and general education teachers to effectively implement an inclusive, co-teaching model in grades K-6. This is an IPS position that works in partnership with Phalen Leadership Academies. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Understand and relate to children with special needs; experience with early and intermediate childhood preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of positive behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Experience using multi-sensory techniques to assist in instruction
  • Experience informing parents about student progress, providing daily, weekly and quarterly feedback
  • Demonstrate organizational and technology skills
