Overview
Provides a variety of pharmacy technician, data entry, billing and IV technician functions to support clinical and business operations for the assigned region. Responsible for coordinating, and may also train these activities with the data entry technicians in the performance of accurate drug entry, customer communications and accurate point of service billing.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm with one 4-hour Sunday Shift every 7 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Enters data into computer system to fill prescriptions and to obtain reimbursement/payment, utilizing knowledge of drugs, medical nomenclature, and the metric system
- Reads and inputs written prescriptions and medical data, including performing drug calculations and interpreting physicians’ orders into the computerized med. order system
- Performs computer system operations which may include order entry, billing, crediting, and updating medical records
- Inputs daily orders (new and refills)
- Audits the input versus documentation and makes corrections as required
- Generates reports as needed
- Identifies and resolves issues of denials or follow-up of claims, by maintaining current knowledge of Medicaid claim regulations and processes
- Participates in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Data Entry Technicians
- May enter IV medication orders into medication order system
- Performs Pharmacy Technician duties as required
- Performs other tasks assigned
- Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; National PTCB Technician Certification desired
- One year experience in data entry in a long-term care pharmacy
- Ability to communicate effectively, work as a member of a team, recognize and identify patient medications
- Skilled in operating a computer
- Skilled in performing detailed work
- Knowledge of Medicaid claims regulations and processes
- As required by state, technician licensure or certification in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas
- Possess Communication, Initiative, Problem-solving, Team Orientation, Leadership, Detail-orientation skills
