The Phase Family Learning Center’s mission is to partner with families as their children navigate each “phase” of life through environments that inspire, experiences that engage and interactions that impress. Our model and systems in conjunction with state licensing provide the vision and guidelines for operating a licensed childcare center for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
Position Overview:
The School Age Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and operation of all educational and extracurricular programs for school-age children, to include summer camps, school break camps and after-school programming. The School Age Coordinator should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working with children and their families and have experience working with school-age children and managing staff as well as daily operations of an ongoing program.
This position will interact closely with the Church Partnership Coordinator for Century Church. In this capacity, the School Age Coordinator will also assume responsibilities related to licensing, regulatory compliance and operational tasks on behalf of the Learning Center thus ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and engagement for children, families, and staff.
This role may require the individual to occasionally be counted into the classroom ratios to help cover breaks, absences, etc. However, the majority of the School Age Coordinator’s time will be dedicated to administrative and engagement tasks.
Key Responsibilities of the School Age Coordinator:
1. Program Development and Implementation
- Plan, resource, and oversee the implementation of curriculum for the After-School program, School Break Camps, and Summer Camps.
- Plan, resource and oversee the quality and planning of snacks and meals for school age programming.
- Develop and publish schedules, lesson plans, and activity guides in collaboration with the Phase Center Support team and other local Leadership Team members, as applicable.
- Manage the program budget for school-age activities.
- Oversee all supply purchasing and resource allocation for school-age programs.
- Work with enrichment staff, program staff, Center Support and the church partner to ensure programs are well-planned and resourced.
- Coordinate with marketing and enrollment teams (church partner and Center Support) to promote school-age programs according to Phase Operations Manual and Procedures. This includes participation in local marketing events and initiatives and managing the enrollment process to include tour-giving and registration/enrollment.
2. Staff Management and Training
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of staff for school-age programs, including after-school and summer camp roles.
- Train and coach teachers on curriculum implementation, classroom management, and program execution.
- Conduct regular check-ins and professional development sessions with staff to ensure quality and alignment with program goals.
- Manage scheduling, time-off requests, and performance evaluations for program staff.
- Support transportation needs, including managing transportation documentation, ensuring bus cleanliness, and scheduling annual inspections.
3. Licensing and Compliance
- Ensure all operations meet state licensing and accreditation standards.
- Maintain all necessary documentation, including student and staff files, transportation logs and annual inspections.
- Oversee health and safety protocols, emergency preparedness plans and building compliance.
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory requirements and implement any necessary updates or changes.
- Champion and, when possible, increase the quality rating of the Learning Center.
4. Family Communication and Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families in all matters (enrollment, billing, communication and program information).
- Oversee the enrollment process to include local marketing, social media management, utilizing the prescribed CRM and related systems through to student enrollment and licensing compliance with documentation.
- Regularly communicate curriculum, lesson plans, and program updates to families via newsletters, ProCare, and family events.
- Participate in the prescribed Family Engagement calendar from Center Support to include weekly and monthly initiatives, program kickoffs, events and celebrations.
Key Responsibilities of the School Age Coordinator in conjunction with the Church Partnership Coordinator:
5. Administrative Leadership
- Act as the point of contact for supply orders, facility needs, and program scheduling.
- Act as the point of contact for all communication (operational and strategic) with the church partner and Center Support.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and success of the center by identifying areas for improvement and innovation.
- Manage payroll and HR issues.
- Manage financial transactions in the overall program budget.
- Ensure that the property, facility and equipment are well-maintained and that the Center maintains a positive, public reputation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a leadership role in early childhood (3 years experience is preferred).
- At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
- Proven ability to manage licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- A passion for teaching, supporting educators, and creating engaging, safe learning environments.
- Clean criminal record and adherence to all state-required training (20 hours annually).
- Alabama-specific qualifications must be met, if not satisfied by the above qualifications.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
