This is skilled work operating the largest and most complex heavy duty earthmoving, road building, vacuum excavation, mechanical cleaning and related equipment. Employees in this class operate automotive equipment having accessories which require a substantial degree of monitoring and/or coordination of the working attachments with the motion of the vehicle, and frequent adjustment of the attachments in order to vary operations because of conditions encountered, or the nature of the operation being performed. Employees in the Tractor Trailer - On-Road specialty regularly operate a tractor trailer on public streets, roads and highways. Employees in this class are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment. Work may include light and heavy physical effort when not operating equipment or driving equipment to and from its operation at the work site. PREFERENCE FOR PHILADELPHIA RESIDENTS
Candidates who have maintained a bona fide residence in Philadelphia for at least one year prior to the date of the civil service examination shall have priority over all other people receiving an identical test score.
To receive such preference, candidates must respond to the question regarding residence later in this form. The response on this application will be used to determine eligibility for preference for residents. Documentation of residence may be required if there is any question as to whether you meet the residency preference requirements.
If an applicant does not respond to the appropriate residence question, it will be assumed that the applicant does not qualify for residence preference.
