Company Overview: Philly Tutors is a community based small tutoring company dedicated to empowering students in the Philadelphia area with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. We take pride in our commitment to excellence and are currently seeking passionate and experienced K-8 tutors to join our team.

Position: K-8 Tutors

About the Role: As a K-8 tutor with Philly Tutors, you'll have the rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on students' lives by providing tailored academic support. You'll work one-on-one with students in grades K-8, helping them build a strong foundation in various subjects, develop effective study habits, and foster a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct personalized tutoring sessions for students in grades K-8, focusing on their individual learning needs and goals.
• Create and implement customized lesson plans and teaching materials that align with students' learning styles.
• Provide comprehensive instruction in subjects such as mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies.
• Assist students with homework assignments, projects, and test preparation.
• Cultivate a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes active participation and critical thinking.
• Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians about achievements and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with the Philly Tutors team to share insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of our tutoring programs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, relevant subject area, or a related field.
• A minimum of 1 year of tutoring or teaching experience, preferably with K-8 students.
• A strong passion for education and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish a supportive rapport with students and their families.

Pay: $18.72 - $22.55 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 10 per week

Schedule:

• After school
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
