ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to all components of the above position summary the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities are essential to successful performance in this position:

1) Conducts on-site, voluntary compliance checks with tobacco and e-cigarette retailers in the region to ensure retailers adhere to all protocols established by the Texas Comptroller's Office related to minor access to tobacco, permits, and required signage.

2) Provides education to tobacco retailers in the region that require additional information on the most current tobacco laws, especially as they pertain to access for people under 21.

3) Reports violations to local law enforcement or local comptroller office; conducts follow-up, voluntary compliance checks with all tobacco retailers who have been cited for tobacco-related violations; and provides informational materials regarding Texas tobacco laws.

4) Coordinates with other providers and community stakeholders on tobacco compliance activities.

5) Provides education to persons under the age of 21 who are cited for possession of tobacco products.

6) Attends and participates in the local school, community, staff, and other meetings in accordance with program needs.

7) Adheres to the professional ethics and conduct of standards as established by Phoenix House policies.

8) Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, completes all training on time

9) Attends and participates in program and all staff meetings

10) Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others

11) Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent in this position has no supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

  • Degree in education, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist designation preferred
  • Two years' experience working with youth in chemical dependency prevention, intervention, or treatment setting. One year of experience working with families is preferred for programs with family programs.
  • Must maintain a valid Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy
