What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention Specialist position at Pickaway Area Recovery Services, Inc.?
Duties
· To facilitate evidence-based education to the classrooms in surrounding school districts with program fidelity.
· To attend ongoing program meetings and training.
· To model professional, responsible behavior at all times.
· Copy and prepare written materials, supplies, etc. for each program session.
· Maintain accurate and complete records of program and projects (including administering and completing participant pre-/post-test evaluations) to provide monthly status reports.
· To update supervision of any problems associated with a program session including staff issues, low program attendance, tardiness, etc. within 24 hours of the session.
· Record program attendance and demographics.
· Assist with the development of documents and reports.
· Organize and provide presentations to community agencies, schools, or businesses on prevention issues.
· Provide AOD education at local health fairs and booths.
· To provide other support consistent with job roles assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to operate a computer with knowledge of various software programs.
· Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Excellent organizational skills.
· Ability to relate well to a diverse group of people including staff, clients, the public, professional agencies, and organizations.
· Must be available to work shift as scheduled. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
· Ability to conduct yourself in an ethically appropriate manner, keeping in mind the importance of client/staff boundaries.
· Ability to de-escalate situations using therapeutic means of interaction.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all records and information.
· Must complete mandated courses within a specified timeframe as a condition of employment.
Qualifications and Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred.
· The ability to accept supervision, training, and instruction and follow policies and procedures of PARS.
· Be willing to attend PARS training on days off and be willing to take classes needed.
· Reliable transportation and phone.
· Minimum certification: Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist, or actively obtaining certification.
· Skills in maintaining working relationships with other employees and the public.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
· Must be responsible, dependable, and able to maintain the confidentiality of information.
· Be self-motivated and a self-starter.
