Theater Technician

Purpose

The Theater Technician is responsible for ensuring that the lighting, sound and other technical aspects of theater performances, live presentations, and other Pine Crest School events that require audiovisual production, run safely, smoothly and on time.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Works in a safe operation and maintenance of theater sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of stage productions, meetings, and related events
• Performs Fine Arts events’ set-up and tear-down of equipment, including general labor such as sweeping and mopping the stage, moving tables and chairs, loading in and out of the set, lighting, audio, etc.
• Assesses and manages maintenance of systems, equipment inventory, and other Fine Arts related duties as assigned
• Works before, during and after performances, behind the scenes, in many different positions backstage, including helping with props, spot light operation, lighting assistance, pulling drop lines, audio functions, and/or other scene changes accurately and at the right times.
• Meets regularly with the Fine Arts Director/Performing Arts Chair to prioritize tasks for the upcoming week
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee
  
  

Job Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience And Qualifications

Minimum 2 years working in an office environment, preferably in the Arts field and/or in an educational institution.
