JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the Director of Family-based Mental Health Services, the Mental Health Worker is part of a two-person treatment team that provides direct therapeutic interventions to a child or adolescent and family in the client’s home. Team members help families connect to community resources and participate in meetings with collaterals.

WHAT You’ll Do as a MHW:

  • Become credentialed through the Philadelphia Family and Child Therapy Training Center Inc. as a Mental Health Worker within the first four years of employment.
  • Meet with assigned clients and their families in their homes to complete a biopsychosocial history and any needed forms and authorizations; explains program services and the grievance procedures, answers questions, and helps develop the initial treatment plan. Enters data into the Welligent Electronic Health Record while at the client’s home.
  • Provide case-management services, ascertains that the identified client’s physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and spiritual needs are being met, and serves as an advocate for the client and family to assure adequate access to services. At times, provides transportation for clients and family to and from appointments.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to the client and family which are consistent with the family’s cultural values and expectations and are documented on the Treatment Plan. Must be available to work evenings and some weekends.
  • Work cooperatively with county mental health staff and client’s parents and keeps all apprised of progress and issues of concern. Maintains communication with program supervisor and other staff as needed and brings information/situations of concern to the attention of the supervisor immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, nursing, social work, rehabilitation, pre-med, theology, anthropology or a closely related discipline with at least one year of experience working with children in a CASSP system; or,
  • 12 college-level semester hours in humanities or social services, one year of experience in a CASSP system program and enrollment for certification by the Department of Public Welfare, Office of Mental Health (OMH), as a mental health family-based worker; or,
  • A licensed nurse (RN) with at least one year of experience in a CASSP system and be enrolled for certification by the Department of Public Welfare OMH as a mental health family-based worker.

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
