Description: We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of bookkeeping tasks. A successful Accounting Clerk should have a positive, serve the members first mindset. With great communication skills, strong work ethic, and a “can-do” attitude. Accounting Clerk responsibilities include a variety of daily accounting and clerical functions reconciling statements, assisting personnel and using software programs. Ultimately, a successful Accounting Clerk will be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers and will ensure the credit union’s daily accounting functions are run accurately and timely.
Responsibilities:
· Provide daily accounting and clerical support to the accounting department and personnel.
· Typing accurately, prepare and maintain daily accounting reconcilements
· Resolve errors members’ accounts in a timely manner
· Research, track, and resolve daily accounting problems and discrepancies
· Daily entering of financial transactions into the software
· Provide assistance and support to credit union personnel and members.
· Maintain a working knowledge in ACH, reconciling bank statements, AP, and card chargeback activity
· Constantly grow in job knowledge and skills through training and teamwork
· Understands and adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Proven accounting experience with a willingness and motivation to learn more.
· Accuracy and attention to detail
· Aptitude for numbers
· Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
· Problem resolution and analytical skills to perform a variety of tasks.
· Must be able to sit for extended periods, bend, stretch, reach, grasp and occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds (e.g.: file boxes).
· Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Education and Other Requirements:
· At least two to four years of experience in the field or a related area is preferred.
· At least two years of financial institution experience is preferred.
· ACH skills are preferred.
· Credit Union experience and proficiency in Jack Henry financial services programs (i.e.: Episys, Document Manager, etc.) a plus.
· Equivalent combination of education, skills, qualifications, and experience will be considered.
· All applicants must have a clean criminal background, pass bondability, and a credit check.
