Meter Reader

The Pinnacle Propane Meter Reader will ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations pertaining to the storage, installation, delivery, and usage of all products that Pinnacle supplies. Operate within the Policy and Procedures outlined in Pinnacle Propane employee and operation manuals.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Perform basic work using clearly prescribed procedures. Seeks advice and guidance for any deviations from the norm. 
• Read gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Records readings for billing purposes.  
• Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues 
• Operate service/company vehicles in accordance with company and government regulations 
• Maintain service/company vehicles by reviewing the maintenance record and perform pre and post trip inspections. Secure vehicles and equipment consistent with company security instructions and policy 
• Communicate with the supervisor of any issues that might impact safety, customer satisfaction, productivity, and other established goals and standards 
• Must be familiar with the contents of the Operating Manual, live by the spirit of its intent, and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.  Must complete required safety training 
• Must maintain position Operator Qualifications (OQ), any other required OQs, and classroom training or certifications 
• During daily interaction with customers. Communicate clearly and effectively to convey information to new and existing customers 
• Maintain a professional image and superior customer service 
• Prepare, complete, process, and maintain work orders and/or all job-related documentation 
• Ability to lift, carry, or push equipment up to 60lbs 
• Work in all Outdoor weather conditions.  Ability to work around small animals, i.e. dogs, cats, other animals, etc. 
• Requires extensive walking to read meters  
• Operation of hand and mechanical equipment 
• Requires a strong sense of smell 
• Requires visual attention to detail in reading meter numbers accurately and recording them for billing purposes 
• Ensure that Company and Government Safety, policy and regulatory standards are met and maintained  
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Basic Qualifications (Required): 

• Valid Drivers License 
• Communications skills require ability communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide basic factual information 
• Numeric Skills -  require ability to perform basic addition subtraction multiplication and division 
• Computer Skills -  require basic computer skills for data entry reference and/or retrieval tasks 
• Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language. 
• Ability to operate in adverse weather conditions, including off-road. 
• Ability to abide by all DOT rules and regulations. 
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, manuals, and reports. 
• Complete Operator Qualification 
• Consistently demonstrates cooperative, team-oriented behavior. 
• Safety conscious and understand safe work practices for operating in the propane gas utility business 
• Maintain cleanliness and perform minor maintenance on equipment as well as ensure equipment is mechanically sound and in good working order at all times and report deficiencies to maintenance staff.
