What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Pioneer Cabinetry, Inc.?
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to assist in the smooth and efficient operation of our facility and equipment. Our position involves performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
The schedule for this position is slated to be Monday – Friday, from 8a until 4:30. The ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays is a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that working conditions are safe at all times and in compliance with MIOSHA and EGLE standards
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment from various sources
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment
- Fabricate jigs, fixtures, or simple machines as needed to optimize and improve production processes
- Operate and maintain stills, processing hazardous waste through the reclaim process
- Transfer hazardous waste to appropriate containers and move containers to Hazardous Accumulation storage area. Inspect condition of containers and labels according to standards. Complete hazardous waste records log and sign shipping paperwork.
- Assist with emergency procedures for spill clean ups, fires, safety, evacuations, first aid, and CPR
Skills
- Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar industrial maintenance role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools, and maintenance software
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and other documents
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with co-workers and supervisors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work under time constraints and multi-task
Educational Requirements & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Technical school or trade certification preferred
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
