What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Improvement Leader position at PIP Global Safety?
This role is critical in driving Continuous Improvement initiatives and Lean processes at the Olive Branch, MS distribution center. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting initiatives generated by senior leadership and as important, this candidate will by example cultivate a culture of continuous improvement among the site’s employees, all in an effort to deliver measurable results in safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

- Collaborate with Warehouse Director, Department Managers, and cross-functional teams in all areas within the distribution center, including inbound/receiving and outbound shipping operations, Put-away, Quality and Compliance, National accounts, Value-Add services, Screen-Printing, Retail, Sample room, to identify enterprise-wide improvement opportunities.
- Serve as the overall lead in the execution of site-level initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, reducing costs, optimizing delivery, and 5S sustainment.
- Engage with site leadership to routinely communicate progress, challenges, and successes of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion Lean daily management principles (KPI’s, Communication, Accountability, and Leader Standard Work)
- Working collaboratively with CI Director, develop and implement a site continuous improvement strategy that aligns with senior leadership operational goals.
- Collaborate with site leaders to implement waste (Lean) across the manufacturing (Screen Print) and distribution processes, focusing on improving flow, reducing lead times, and enhancing product quality and delivery.
- Mentor projects teams in the execution of projects (large and small) using Lean tools and techniques (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause and Corrective Analysis).
- Lead efforts to standardize and replicate successful improvement initiatives across the distribution center.
- Champion employee generated ideas and empower employees to become “part of the solution.” Generally build a culture of “CI-Thinking among employees.
- Develop and champion visual dashboards and operating procedures that communicate progress and impact of projects to site leaders and employees.
- Lead, coach, and develop employees across the distribution center, fostering a high-performance culture focused on routine continuous improvement.
- Identify high performing individuals within the warehouse who possess the aptitude and attitude for CI and work with them to develop deeper level continuous improvement skills (train future trainers and CI ambassadors)
- Serve as a change agent, promoting a mindset of continuous improvement and operational efficiency throughout the organization.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives in a Supply Chain/Logistics environment/Manufacturing. Methodologies include 5S, Lean Kaizen, TOC, 8D, Six Sigma (LSS), etc..
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing or distribution environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role focused on deploying or sustaining continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing behavior.
- Proven track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives with quantifiable impact.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies; Credible Lean or LSS Green Belt certification preferred
- Planning and Organization: Ability to develop and execute a vision for continuous improvement across the distribution center (end to end).
- Influencing: Ability to influence at levels across the site (Director to Shipping Floor).
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate ideas, technical concepts, or proposed CI initiatives into clear, concise, and easily understandable messages tailored to diverse audiences.
- Change Management: Proven experience in leading change initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and drive decisions based on insights.
- Leadership: Ability to inspire, lead, and develop teams to achieve operational excellence.
