Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of safety in the shop, hiring and training employees, monitoring work activity, managing equipment and fabrication activities, and enforcing rules and regulations associated with the job site. They will ensure all work meets standards and is completed efficiently and on-time.
Job Duties:
- Implement the company’s safety program including training and documentation in safe operating procedures, communications and toolbox topics
- Direct, Plan, and Schedule all Shop fabrication activities.
- Ensure that fabricated work is inspected, audited to appropriate quality standards and Shop drawings, and documented appropriately
- Ensure welding, fitting, fabrication, and painting standards are met on all job tasks
- Maintain cost control with regards to personnel, utilities, consumables, fuel, repair and maintenance, equipment operation, and others
- Assure personnel are assigned adequately and efficiently to allow optimal product flow and cost reduction
- Coordinate Training of new employees including safety procedures
- Interview and hire job candidates
- Perform worker evaluations and monitor work conformance, including disciplinary actions when required
- Manage and Schedule Shop work and personnel requirements consistent with job fabrication needs
- Maintain Shop equipment to adequate standards
- Complete fabrication jobs to assure on-time and accurate deliveries to Field operations
- Document necessary training, maintenance, environmental issues as required
- Work with management to maintain proper inventory levels so that the proper material is procured
- Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and Shop to minimize waste and damage.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Ensure that workflow, labor / personnel is consistently employed efficiently and effectively.
- Assure work and Shop security, lockup, freedom from thefs
- Continuous improvement of operational excellence scorecard items
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Implement yard organization to optimize process and product flow
- Assure shipping and receiving flow is accurate and timely
- With the QA personnel, assure the conformance of the Shop fabrication work to company and industry quality standards

Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED or above
- Warehouse, factory, or shop experience required
- Managerial or supervisory experience required
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills
- Ability to work well with people at all levels
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols
- Manages time effectively
- Detail-oriented
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- Able to operate heavy machinery
- Some experience in lean manufacturing desired but not mandatory
