Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Nurse Manager to lead daily operations and clinical functions of the Emergency Department at a Level III Trauma Center. This role manages a team of 45 direct reports within a 73-FTE department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily workflow, staffing, and overall operations of the Emergency Department
- Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and patient safety standards
- Manage personnel activities, including hiring, training, and coaching staff
- Provide strong leadership to support the nursing team in delivering exceptional patient care
- Address patient, visitor, and physician concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care delivery
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring compliance with unit-specific standards of care
- Develop and implement department goals, safety procedures, and operational workflows
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) – Preferred
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active RN license in Tennessee or Compact State RN license – Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Required within 30 days of hire
Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years of clinical leadership experience – Required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience – Required
Unit Details:
- Trauma Level: III
- Team Structure: 45 direct reports, 73 total FTEs (including PRN staff)
