Overview
Our Client, A large manufacturer in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting department. The Controller will report to the CFO and will be responsible for overseeing the staff and guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. The position also prepares reports for the Executive Leadership Team.
Essential Duties
- Supervise, train, coach and develop a professional accounting and finance team.
- Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
- Maximize return and limits risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making fiscally-beneficial investments.
- Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Minimum 7-10 years accounting experience – a mix of public accounting, manufacturing environment and at least 4 years supervising.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Look-up’s), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills.
- Experience with FAS 133, Microsoft FRx, Microsoft Navision, Sage and manufacturing is a plus.
