What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemist I position at PL Developments?

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science from an accredited college or university and up to 1 year of related laboratory work experience in the pharmaceutical industry; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of GLP, cGMP, FDA and other regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry.
- Basic math skills, including statistics.
- Basic chemistry or related science skills.
- Experience using sample preparation techniques.
- Experience using computer applications and programs related to laboratory applications (e.g., HPLC, FTIR, UV, LIMS, Lab Calc and GC).
- Knowledge of sampling methods and quality control systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to accurately and precisely performs testing.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws. Complies with all current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and safety requirements and laboratory Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation (i.e., pH meter, HPLC, dissolution equipment, etc.).
- Prepare standard and sample solutions as required by the test methods.
- Operate general analytical instruments for all routine testing (i.e., HPLC, GC, UV, automatic titrator, and IR).
- Perform wet chemistry tests (i.e., LOD, pH, titration, etc.).
- Perform analysis on intermediate and finished product.
- Participate in troubleshooting of analytical test methods and laboratory instruments.
- Maintain appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks) as required by SOPs.
- Comply with good housekeeping and safety practices.
- Participate in the training program as a qualified trainer, as requested.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds, vision to monitor, moderate to loud noise levels. Incumbents may be exposed to or work with toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment. Work is performed in an office or laboratory environment. Incumbents must be able to use personal protective equipment (e.g. respirators, gloves, etc.).
Salary Range: $62,000-$65,000 annually.
