Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details

• Location: Smithtown, NY 11787 (Long Island nursing job)
• Facility: 4 South - Surgical Care Center (Med/Surg Telemetry Unit)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nurse Contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (8/25/2025 – 11/24/2025)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:15 AM), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960
• Orientation: 16 hours, scheduled monthly
• Charting System: EPIC (preferred experience)
• Free Parking: Available on-site
  
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Surgical nursing experience required
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Ability to float to other units and work every other weekend
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical exemptions considered)
• First-time travel nurses welcome; prior travel nursing experience preferred
  
  

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients on a busy surgical/telemetry floor
• Monitor, interpret, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and deliver post-operative care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Manage a patient load of approximately 6:1
• Utilize EPIC for accurate documentation and patient management
• Participate in rapid response teams and adhere to isolation precautions
• Float to other nursing units as needed and provide weekend coverage every other weekend
