The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is an active member of the Development / External Affairs team and will be focused on all aspects of fundraising operations. The incumbent’s key responsibility is to cultivate relationships with current and future donors which will enable PPGP to solicit major gifts, conduct prospect research, preparing donor correspondence and performing outreach, and planning and executing events to engage supporters for Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) across its four-state region (AR, KS, MO, and OK). The MGO organizes event committee meetings and timelines; works with members of the Communications and Marketing team to develop materials; oversees on-site logistics, such as vendor coordination, attendee RSVP and registration, etc. The position will be based in Kansas City and provides general development and event support for all four states with an emphasis on building and maintaining key donor relationships in the greater Kansas City area.

Accountabilities

  • Execute cultivation and solicitation initiatives for key Kansas City-area major donors under the direction of Chief Development Officer and CEO.
  • Maintain major gift portfolios for Kansas City area and grow new donor pipeline through research and development of new supporter relationships.
  • Manage all aspects of event planning for PPGP, including but not limited to developing event ideas; managing the logistics of all events; coordinating time with staff and other volunteers; communicating with chairs, committee members, and others; and helping with the gift processing and acknowledgment of gifts.
  • Create and maintain event timelines and checklists to organize event planning process.
  • Work closely with development committee members/event chairs in the cities in which PPGP operates.
  • Develop ideas for new events along with staff and committee members.
  • Work with PPGP’s Communications and Marketing team members to develop invitations and other promotional materials for events, appeal letters, and other materials.
  • Oversee the database manager to coordinate mailing lists for appeals and events and to support the transition to new donor base software.
  • Develop relationships with outside vendors to provide various services for events and work to negotiate special non-profit and/or in-kind rates.
  • Work closely with internal staff and volunteers to communicate expectations and responsibilities for all events.
  • Coordinate and manage volunteers who assist with events.
  • Assist and provide backup support for Data Manager with data entries, queries, reports, and database maintenance.

Education And Experience

  • Required Experience
  • Five to seven years related development experience
  • One to three years supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications or related field
  • Fluent and experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) browser-based applications, and relational databases.
  • Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or other CRM technology experience.
  • Commitment to PPGP’s mission, purpose, and values.

Starting annual salary range: $75,000-$85,000
