Anticipated 10 hours per week

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Library Pages are an essential part of the Pleasant Grove Library. General responsibilities of Library Pages include sorting, straightening, and shelving books and other library materials. The Library Page works under the direction of the page supervisor.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Shelve all assigned library items accurately and quickly.
• Shift items on shelves to maintain even item distribution.
• Shelf reading to monitor the collection for accurate placement of materials.
• As directed, shelves, or retrieve materials. Also, shelf read, rearrange and otherwise stack or file materials in accordance with classification system.
• Inspect all items in assigned sections for correct order.
• Maintain face-out item displays on shelves and on any other assigned displays.
• Keep items on shelves pulled forward and neat.
• Answer patrons' basic location questions for material and services and refers patrons to appropriate staff for more complex questions or service needs.
• Transports materials to stacks or shelving areas by hand carry or using wheeled cart.
• Empties book drop as needed or assigned.
• Assists in setting up community rooms for programs
• Participates in meetings and staff training, and follows library rules/guidelines.
• Dust and pick up trash in assigned areas.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• No education requirement, but must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Experience:

• Prior experience a plus, but not required.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet, with the ability to assist patrons with computers, tablets and phones.

Skills/Abilities

• Must know how to alphabetize and categorize quickly and accurately.
• Must be comfortable working alone for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to bend and stoop and reach high places.
• Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
• Must be able to understand and carry out instructions in written and verbal format.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions in written and verbal format.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to bend and stoop and reach high places.
• Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
