POSITION: Counselor
SALARY SCHEDULE: Placement on the District teacher salary schedule based on education and experience.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain an Idaho Education Credential endorsed in area of application.
Applicants must be Highly Qualified under State and Federal regulations.
The primary functions is to provide a comprehensive counseling program for all students in the school; to consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; to provide support to other educational programs.
- Major Job Responsibilities are: Implementation of the secondary school guidance program: contact classroom lessons in each teacher’s class for each grade level throughout the year.
- Provide students individually and in groups with Solution-Orientated, therapeutically supported sessions on recurrent topics which could include academic failure, family issues, behavior problems, peer problems.
- Consult with teachers, parents and staff regarding student needs, participate in staffings, act as a resource person for faculty, staff and parents; conduct and or provide opportunities for parent education programs; assist families with school related problems.
- Refer students with problems and their parents to special programs, specialists, and outside agencies.
- Participate in activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school; contribute to the school and district goals for enhancing student achievement.
