Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Point of Sale (POS) Installation Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing POS systems at various client locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field service, computer hardware, and equipment repair, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. The technician will work independently in the field, ensuring seamless setup and operation of POS solutions while providing excellent customer service.
Schedule & Travel: This is a part-time position working 3 days per week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role involves travel for installations and troubleshooting as needed, with most work scheduled Monday–Friday and occasional weekend projects depending on client needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proven ability to interpret client requests, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure all installations adhere to ALL safety and RDS quality standards.
- Must be an effective communicator with strong project coordination, problem-solving, attention to detail, time management, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Responsible for maintaining highly organized and accurate records of installations, repairs, and inventory for compliance and quality assurance.
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs point-of-sale systems which include Registers, Cash Drawers, Receipt Printers, Security Cameras, and Drive-thru Headset systems.
- Tone, test, run and terminate, repair Cat5e/Cat6 voice and data cabling, as well as low voltage electric handling and installations.
- Install and mount equipment to walls, ceilings, on counter tops, to new and or updated customer sites, including all Point of Sale (POS) solutions which includes remote and on-site client support.
- Performs tasks for systemic resolution, together with a degree of pre and forward planning as well as anticipation of needs/issues.
- Adept at team collaboration and client communication, with strong organizational skills and knowledge base documentation
- Manages own van stock inventory levels and escalates when a part shortage occurs.
- Review and complete work orders for completed jobs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience preferably in the construction, IT field, but will provide on-the-job & paid training to get new technicians up to speed on specific systems and procedures.
- Previous experience in a POS environment including restaurant and/or retail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address on-site issues effectively

Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with Point-of-Sale environments.
- Ability to coordinate customer requests, through to resolution.
- Ability to adhere to RDS standards while working in a flexible environment.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical customers.
- Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in individual and group/team work environments.
- Ability to multi-task across multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, service oriented environment.
- Ability to methodically approach issues and resolve for root cause and document accordingly.
- Proficient at using hand tools, including drilling through wood, steel, tile and stainless-steel surfaces.
- Good driving record, valid driver’s license and insured. Must be able to travel to customer sites.

REQUIREMENTS, BOTH PHYSICAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position requires spending a lot of time on your feet and other physical activity associated with an installation. Kneeling, Bending, laying under cabinets.
- Lifting or moving objects of up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of climbing ladders up to 16ft, sometimes higher.
- The work environment may contain up to moderate to loud noise (normal retail and construction site conditions).
- Fundamental knowledgeable of low voltage electrics
- No protective clothing or equipment will be necessary in the work environment, RDS gear will be provided.
- Non-slip shoes recommended
- Must have a driver’s license and clean record.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
