What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Extrusion Lead position at Poly Compounding?
Key Responsibilities:
- Physical presence at the worksite during all assigned work shifts. Ability to cover all shifts during emergencies.
- Ability to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; sit; walk; lift more than 10 pounds for periods of time throughout the day.
- Analyze, research, design and develop an extrusion process for new and existing product lines.
- Hands-on work to run the extrusion lines during production and development activities.
- Gather and analyze data during the development cycle to build a repeatable extrusion process.
- Select and design equipment for the extrusion process. Develop and execute all validation activities related to the extrusion process.
- Investigates causes of ongoing process, quality, production efficiency and high waste problems. Then develops solutions using problem solving techniques.
- Translate high-level business objectives into daily objectives and production targets.
- Develop, track, and report against key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to quality, cost, and production throughput.
- Troubleshoot equipment to limit downtime and increase efficiencies to meet customer demand.
- Train team members on proper use of manufacturing and quality measurement equipment.
- Manage corrective action reports and perform root cause failure analysis to improve safety, uptime, and quality performance.
- Develop and manage continuous improvement projects to increase efficiencies, support quality management and support safety initiatives.
- Manage small and medium capital projects, including accountability for cost, schedule, and quality.
- Participates in the training of machine operators on new equipment installations, equipment modifications and new operating procedures.

QUALIFYING & REQUIREMENTS:
1. BS degree in science or engineering or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in plastics polymers and plastics extrusion Processes.
3. Ability to interact with customer R&D and manufacturing to facilitate developments, complaint investigations, etc.
4. Proven ability to influence internal and external decision makers.
Results oriented, Strong communication and sales skill, Strong team player.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 per week
