Environmental Sustainability Intern

Pompeian’s Early Talent Program is currently offering a summer internship in the Environment & Sustainability department. Baltimore based since 1906, Pompeian, Inc. is the leading national brand of Olive Oil, bestselling vinegars and cooking sprays. The Environment & Sustainability department is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Environmental Intern to assist the Environment & Sustainability Supervisor and Director. This role is on site at Corporate Headquarters at 4201 Pulaski highway in Baltimore. Job Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance and collaborate with the Environment and Sustainability Department with the implementation and achievement of the Zero Waste Facility Certification for 2 sites as part of Pompeian’s Environmental Strategy
• Assist the environmental supervisor with the coordination of activities for contractors regarding waste data collection, treatment, and management under the Zero facility waste program
• Collect and input data in the waste diversion calculator from SCS Global Services
• Contact waste management vendors to request the requirements established in the Zero Facility Waste program
• Interface with Environmental department to perform environmental inspections in the Pompeian facilities, and elaboration of reports with non-conformities
• Assist in updating environment KPI’s and propose improvements to communicate Environment and Sustainable Performance as needed
• Preparation of environmental internal and external performance reports
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of environmental awareness sessions for new hires
• Assist the environmental department with ISO 14001 certification requirements

Requirements:

• Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Management, or other related field
• Must be available to work June 3^rd August 16^th on site at 4201 Pulaski Highway at Pompeian Baltimore Headquarters manufacturing plant Monday Friday
• Familiarity with sustainable practices in the corporate and manufacturing setting
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Skills
• Excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills
• Strong ability to work as part of a team
• Self-starter and not afraid to take initiative
• Strong innovation skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must have predictable and strong attendance
