JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate with the Production department directing maintenance staff to handle all maintenance challenges on the Production lines The position will also support overall workflow while promoting safety, quality awareness, mentoring and training for maintenance staff. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules
  • Oversee maintenance team restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts
  • Direct and coordinate maintenance schedule, needs and assignments of maintenance employees to ensure a safe, high quality product is produced
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment and be the primary contact for the maintenance crew
  • Promote safety and quality awareness
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and employee safety rules
  • Work with Engineering & Production Manager and other supervisors to manage workflow within the department and across departments
  • Ensure that equipment is prepared and lines are ready for the next run
  • Obtain and understand the scheduled production requirements and adapt maintenance team organization
  • Staff and train maintenance crew and production operators on mechanical knowledge and good practices.
  • Communicate critical issues, which affect workflow to the department manager and other supervisory staff
  • Provide feedback and direction to personnel using effective communication and delegation skills to achieve desired business objectives
  • Provide feedback on employee performance to the employee and Operations Manager and assist in the completion of annual reviews and recommend and administer promotions and disciplinary action and hiring
  • Complete administrative paperwork for personnel, production and maintenance results, safety, and quality
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve problems, complaints, or grievances
  • Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and attendance
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and improve safety, production and maintenance methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services
  • Perform and assign preventive maintenance, maintenance work orders
  • Perform basic troubleshooting with Production Technicians and other mechanics
  • Contact vendors/suppliers when needed for troubleshooting and parts
  • Assist on projects as needed
  • Monitor inventory usage by production and maintenance personnel to ensure usage is recorded properly
  • Work on preventive maintenance program to continuously review it and improve it

 

 Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required. Higher education preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management position with multi-line production experience preferably in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing industry
  • Working mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and basic software applications
  • Good organizational and team skills
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and ever-changing assignments and duties
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and improve a maintenance team
  • Keen eye for quality details and a passion to produce results
  • Ability to trouble shoot and develop solutions
