Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC was founded with a vision of helping Hawai‘i’s conservation agencies and landowners. Since 2000, we have been providing specialized services to a wide variety of clients in almost every ecosystem in Hawaiʻi, primarily including:
· Native habitat restoration and landscape maintenance
· Invasive species eradication
· Ungulate-proof/predator-proof fence construction
· Predator and ungulate control
· Trail construction & maintenance
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Technician will be responsible for clearing/maintaining specified areas of different project sites located on Oahu. This role requires physical stamina, a good eye for detail, and knowledge of plant care and general landscaping/groundskeeping practices. There may be opportunities to support other project activities at other locations, but the primary location of work would be Kaneohe, HI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cart paths, fairways, parking lots and other noted areas by mowing, weeding, pruning, and trimming.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and irrigation systems.
- Maintain native planting sites by removing invasive species, grading soil, and applying mulch
- Apply herbicides safely and effectively.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of job sites.
- Follow work plans and scheduling provided by supervisors.
- Communicate with supervisors to ensure expectations are met.
- Maintain accurate records of hours worked, materials used, and site conditions
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a ground keeper or similar role.
- Knowledge of landscaping/maintenance techniques and equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, bend, dig) for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Valid driver's license
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work, often in hot, humid, or inclement weather.
- Use of tools and machinery that require protective gear.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Tree felling experience
· Interest in preserving Hawaiʻi’s native plants, animals, and ecosystems
· Familiarity with both native and invasive species identification
· Familiarity with operating power tools such as chainsaws, weed trimmers, etc.
· State of Hawaiʻi Pesticide Applicator license
· Experience operating/working with machinery (Riding lawn mowers, mini excavator, skid steer, etc.)
SCHEDULE
- * Part Time - Flexible, 2–4 days per week: typically, 8-hour shifts that may occur during the hours of 5am to 5pm. Work hours may shift depending on events
- * Full Time – 30 – 40hrs per week, 8-hour shifts - Monday – Friday. Work hours may shift depending on events
COMPENSATION
· Depends on experience/qualifications and project (minimum starting: $17 per hour)
