Controller

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting and finance function, helping to establish financial clarity and operational excellence as we scale.

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee all day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, AR/AP, payroll, and cash flow management. This role will work closely with the company’s leadership team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and visibility of financial data that informs business decisions.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving systems, and helping a growing company operate with discipline and clarity.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
• Oversee all accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
• Ensure expense tracking and categorization aligns with internal procedures and external reporting needs
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Build cash flow forecasts, budgets, and P&L analysis
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide insights to leadership
• Prepare and deliver financial packages to the CEO and President

Operational Finance

• Oversee payroll processing (ADP)
• Track budget vs. actuals
• Improve and maintain financial processes, controls, and documentation
• Support CPA with year-end tax filings and audit prep

Process & System Ownership

• Manage financial systems (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Concur, etc.)
• Recommend and implement automation or efficiency improvements
• Create and enforce internal accounting policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role
• Strong understanding of GAAP, cash flow management, and budgeting
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online required
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and reporting tools
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines

Bonus points for experience in:

• Foodservice, retail, or CPG
• Working with a fast-growing business
• Building out reporting dashboards (Power BI, etc.)
