What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Supervisor position at Positive Education Program?

Job purpose
Provide clinical supervision of the program on-site and clinical leadership to treatment team members in the development and implementation of treatment strategies in the Mental Health Day Treatment programming.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Align practice and work with the agency mission, vision, guiding principles, the trauma-informed Sanctuary Model®, the Neurosequential Model and the Re-ED philosophy.
  • The Clinical Supervisor provides direct supervision of all mental health services of the Mental Health Day Treatment programming. This includes monitoring, instruction, modeling, and consultation for all staff in the performance of clinical services to clients.
  • Diagnosis of clients and determination of those who are severely emotionally disturbed.
  • Intake of all clients in the center, following all established procedures, keeping accurate counts of projected discharge and projected intake. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to make home visits whenever possible. The intake procedures include observance of the child's due process rights as well as following all aspects of the Operating Standards of Ohio’s Schools Serving Children with Disabilities.
  • As the on-site Records Control Officer, s/he is responsible for maintenance of all records in accordance with PEP's clinical record keeping system and collection of continuous quality improvement data.
  • Organization and supervision of family services programs in the center.
  • Administration and interpretation of psychological tests as required, as well as preparation of psychological reports as needed.
  • Development and oversight of individual service plans and individual crisis management plans.
  • Consultation with treatment teams regarding clinical needs of clients and development of appropriate intervention plans and their implementation.
  • Supervision and training of clinical interns who are assigned to the center.
  • Supervise the collection of all outcome data as required by PEP and ODMH.
  • Crisis intervention activities including oversight of physical restraint in adherence with rules and regulations of accreditors and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
  • Provide clinically oriented training as needed or designated.
  • Assuming temporary direction of the center in the absence of the Principal.
  • Participate in agency crisis team and assist in response to crisis/emergency, as assigned by Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Implement the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Model with fidelity and effectiveness to support treatment and to reduce/avoid restraints.

  • Participate (and pass requirements where applicable) in all required trainings, including but not limited to; Vehicle Safety, First Aid, CPR, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Standards of Practice.
  • Requires superior time management skills and attention to details.
  • Knowledge of and adhere to PEP and ESC policies and procedures.
  • Perform any such duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with Ohio Department of Education license in School Psychology preferred.
  • Licensure as School Psychologist, LISW, or LPCC required.
  • Eligible for the Educational Aide Certificate under Ohio Department of Education, if applicable.
  • Communicate accurately and effectively, both written and oral.
  • Successful supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making skills, utilizing good judgment under routine and stressful conditions.
  • Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.
  • Evidence of successful leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
Physical requirements
  • Ability to participate in physical interventions, when necessary, and with fidelity to the methods taught through the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model. Physical interventions require intense physical exertion. The object is to safely control/maintain a struggling and aggressive young person ranging from 50 – 250 pounds. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: kneeling, possibly for extended periods of time on hard surfaces, bending, twisting, and holding.
  • Ability to participate in therapeutic outdoor education/field trips which may involve hiking, biking, climbing, and swimming.
  • Ability to use a computer and keyboard (eye-hand coordination and repetitive movements related to keyboarding).
  • Ability to move around the classroom/center/community and sit and stand for more than an hour at a time.
  • Ability to visually and auditorily assess and monitor the mental health status of students for safety purposes.
  • Ability to meet driver eligibility standards and operate an agency leased vehicle.
