What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac-Vascular Sonographer position at Potomac Valley Hospital?

Performs
non-invasive imaging procedures of the Cardiac Graphics and/or Vascular
Laboratories in order to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment of
patients.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.

High school diploma or equivalent.

2.

Program of study completed for
echocardiography and/or vascular laboratory.

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.

Registered
in ARDMS or CCI preferred

2.

Minimum experience of 1 year within a
certified echocardiography laboratory or vascular laboratory preferred.

3.

Obtain certification in Basic Life
Support within 30 days of hire date

4.

Preferred ACLS

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The

1.

To perform
all non-invasive imaging procedures in the Cardiac Graphics and/or Vascular
Laboratories in addition to proper billing of the procedures and prioritizing
patient scheduling.

2.

Coordinates
and prioritizes patient scheduling in order to insure procedure completion in
a timely fashion.

3.

Prior to
testing, obtains information for specific procedures to be performed, answer pertinent
questions to patients concerning procedures and are courteous to patients and
their families 100% of the time.

4.

Performs all
non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.

5.

Notifies
appropriate medical staff if images appear to variate from normal images as
appropriate.

6.

Documents
procedure performed within patient chart to inform the physician that the
test has been completed.

7.

Calculate and
measures cardiovascular structures from procedure data in order to aid the
physician in interpreting results and achieving a diagnosis.

8.

Maintains
orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, procedure rooms and work areas
of the Cardiac Graphics and Vascular Laboratories.

9.

Completes
and compiles billing, insurance information, and accurate documentation
through EHR to ensure accurate procedure billing.

mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic

in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is clinical
