Overview: A PACE Programming Specialist is energetic, organized, and flexible with exceptional interpersonal skills to support our robust arts and culture programming. This role is critical to advancing PACE’s mission of enriching the community through arts, culture, and education. This person thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment of the Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, balancing creativity and attention to detail to deliver impactful programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule adult art classes, speaker series, educational programs, and culinary classes, ensuring alignment with the programming calendar.
  • Work collaboratively with PACE team members to ensure seamless execution of all programming and events within the building, providing support as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and creative contractors to lead classes and programs, supporting their needs by securing supplies and educational materials.
  • Teach classes and lead programs as needed to enhance PACE’s diverse educational offerings.
  • Coordinate and serve as a liaison for community programs such as Music in the Park.
  • Assist with calendar management, registration, and marketing collateral for events and programs.
  • Collaborate with city and county museums and similar institutions to share collections, assist with exhibit planning, artifact preservation, and countywide programming.
  • Oversee gallery installations, including the permanent Grant Wood exhibition and annual juried art competitions.
  • Along with the CEO, facilitate the Visual Arts Committee to curate 1 - 4 shows annually, featuring local artists, regional history, traveling exhibitions, or seasonal holiday-themed exhibits.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors, including artists, writers, graphic designers, signage companies, and multimedia artists, to create engaging, interactive exhibitions.
  • Oversee gallery and building installations, including planning, documentation, hanging, labeling, maintenance, deinstallation, and coordinating the safe return of items.
  • Create and manage budgets and timelines to deliver high-quality art shows and exhibits.
  • Coordinate gallery programming and education, including tours, speaker events, and creating educational materials.
  • Ensure proper gallery and archival space maintenance, including cleaning, climate control, security, and upkeep.
  • Collaborate with the volunteer coordinator to recruit, schedule, and train gallery docents, ensuring they are knowledgeable about exhibits, PACE programming, and security.
  • Serve as the liaison for five artist studios, overseeing recruitment, managing leases, and encouraging participation in exhibitions, open studio hours, and instruction.
  • Manage consignment art sales by contracting with artists, documenting pieces, updating inventory, facilitating sales, and issuing payments.
  • Oversee scheduling, transportation, drop-off, pickup, and safe handling of artwork and artifacts.
  • Oversee public art projects and installations as needed.
  • Support fundraising initiatives by contributing to grant proposals and executing fundraisers.
  • Track, record, and analyze attendance and survey data to inform planning, assessment, and fundraising.
  • Serve as manager on duty as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education, technical theater, graphic design, museum studies, art, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable with physical activities, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and climbing ladders.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) is a plus.
  • Experience in exhibit or set fabrication, or technical event production, is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,742.00 - $48,000.00 per year
