This recruitment will be used to fill 1 full-time position at Poway High School for a 10.5 month academic year.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, provide assistance to student athletes in the prevention, evaluation, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
An employee in this classification collaborates to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and is expected to provide assistance to students. They are expected to work independently with students and exchange information related to the care of students.
Provide assistance to students in the prevention of athletic injuries; tape and wrap athletes to prevent injury or re-injury; supply and assist students with straps, braces and other adaptive equipment to assist with protection from injury. E
Identify, evaluate and provide immediate first aid in response to athletic injuries; administer emergency first aid as necessary. E
Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured students; assist students with specialized therapeutic exercises; perform demonstrations and assure student understanding of proper exercise techniques and procedures. E
Operate a variety of first aid and adaptive equipment. E
Communicate with students, parents, District personnel and outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns related to student injuries, progress, inventory and assigned activities; refer students and parents to outside agencies as appropriate. E
Maintain a variety of records related to student injuries, treatments, progress and assigned activities; process forms and applications as needed; prepare student injury reports. E
Organize and conduct fundraisers to provide funds for athletic and first aid supplies and equipment; estimate and order proper amounts of athletic and first aid supplies and equipment. E
Attend a variety of in-services and other training functions as directed. E
Assist in receiving, storing, issuing and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment utilized in athletic programs.
Assist in determining if rehabilitated students are ready for return to athletic activities.
Maintain work environment in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: two years college-level course work in physical education, athletic training or a related field and one year of experience involving the care, management and prevention of athletic injuries.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid certifications provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or District approved provider for First Aid, Adult/Child CPR and AED. Online certifications will be accepted from these vendors as long as a hands-on skills assessment is completed. Recertification to maintain current/valid status is a condition of employment.
National Athletic Trainers Association Certification required.
