Job Summary
The Senior Accountant (“SA”) is a corporate finance role at the Group level of PowerGrid Services (“PGS”). A market-leading and rapidly growing Transmission and Distribution electrical services business, PGS provides services to the blue-chip utility market. The business is owned by The Sterling Group, a pre-eminent middle market private equity firm. The role reports to the Controller, PGS. The SA will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the finance accounting function, including journals, month end, integrity of financial information and enhancing processes. Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing accounting related duties on a professional level and works with the Controller and accounting team to support all PowerGrid requirements. This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: Month End Close, Fixed Assets, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations, Accruals and Allocations.
Specific Responsibilities
· Prepares accruals and allocations of certain GL Accounts for month end closing.
· Prepares the necessary journal entries for accruals, prepayments and other adjustments.
· Completes monthly reconciliation and review of Accounts Receivable, Credit Card Charges, Account Payable and Payroll account.
· Supports Fixed Asset accounting using Creative Solutions
· Supports Lease Accounting using Costar leasing program
· Records purchases and disposals with coordination from Fleet department
· Capex reporting and analysis
· Posts and reconciles depreciation and amortization.
· Reconciles Fixed Asset list to GL.
· Audits time entry weekly and prepares equipment reports.
· Maintain, reconcile, and balance assigned accounts to the general ledger.
· Analyze expense accounts for accuracy
· Review monthly billing for accuracy
· Generates financial statements and management reports after month end close.
· Other Ad Hoc reports and analysis as assigned.
· Reviews/Approves/Posts Journal Entries throughout the Month
· Reviews/Approves activities surrounding month end close according to the Month End Checklist
· Presents actual results along with appropriate variance analysis and make recommendations to Controller
· Monthly P&L comparisons by customer and/or crew
· Supports all outside audit requirements
· Reviews and/or prepares month end financials.
· Manage the financial close process
